Sports Day

I took the half day off to attend Jake’s very first Sports Day at St. Dunstans. This was for the nursery children only. The reception children along with all the parents of course, came to watch.
It was a well organised event. The children were split into groups of four, one for each lane. They then took it in turns to run the races. We had ‘walk with ring on the head’ race, egg and spoon race, sack race, ‘collect the bean bags’ race, space hopper race(a particular favourite of mine) and finally the sprint.

It was lovely to see Jake enjoying himself among his friends and he did a very good job. At the end of the day all the children were awarded medals and a certification. They then retired for juice and biscuits before the inevitable post-school ‘charging around the playing field’.

I’m afraid all this charging about combined with a 5.30am wake up took its toll on Jake. After an ice cream at Oscars with Martha and Antonia he started on a decline which resulted in my good self carrying Jake crying up Vicars Hill. After he had calmed down an early night was the order of the day.
