Please drink from your bottle

We have been trying to get Mia used to drinking from a bottle. This is because Amy and myself have to take a trip next week and we have to leave Mia and Jake with family. Therefore, we need her to take a bottle.

The annoying thing is that when we was a few weeks old she did indeed take an occasional bottle but we didn’t persevere and so she has lost the knack. So far we have tried Avent, Tommee Tippee and Breastflow. The Avent bottles were a non-starter. We had a degree of success using the Tommee Tippee and BreastFlow but it was very stressful. The last few times we tried Mia has refused anything shaped like a bottle and has been getting herself completely whipped up.

Today we decided that Jake and Amy would go out for the day while I tried again. Amy phoned the Doctor yesterday and they said that 1. Amy should not be in the house 2. We should try a cup to avoid nipple confusion. Amy went out and bought and free flow cup.

Earlier today I again tried the bottle with absolutely no success. Mia again became very agitated and tired so she went for a little nap. When she woke I tried the cup without the lid. I placed her on my lap facing out and gently offered the cup. Amazingly she did not shriek or writhe and took around 2oz. Result! She did start to get whingey so she is back in her cot and asleep.

I will try again when she wakes. Fingers-crossed she will take the cup again.

I did try later on and it worked a treat although when Amy came home it definitely did not work. She could see/hear what she wanted and she wanted it now!.
