Olympus E-500

Well bonfire night has come and gone. I had been meaning to get down to the Blackheath display but alas didn’t make it. I’ve been very busy recently what with the flat sale and bairn to think of. Lot’s to do and not a lot of time to do it.

The Olympus E-500 DSLR has finally been launched. I have been slavishly reading all the reviews and by and large it has got a comprehensive thumbs up. For those not in the know the E-500 is the latest camera that conforms to the 4/3rds photographic standard for digital SLRs. It
comes hot on the heals of the “experimental” E-300 and this time Olympus seem to have hit the nail right on the head.

It’s nice to see that the sadly defunct OM series is alive in spirit with the inclusion of the quirky spot-highlight/spot-lowlight metering options present on my incredibly lo-fi but amazing OM4-Ti. All I need to do now is to save up enough pennies to purchase one of these fine cameras. Maybe santa will be kind enough this year and leave one in my stocking 😉
