Kind of in a daze

That’s how I feel today. I went to bed late last night after watching Big Brother(yes I know).

Mia woke at midnight for a feed. I scooped her little frame up and we went downstairs to prepare, and drink her milk. I usually do this in the lounge were the light has a dimmer. I put it in the lowest setting so that she retains a sleepy demeanour.

I went back to bed until Mia woke at 3am for her second feed. The same drill as before. She drank her milk nicely then settled back to sleep without a hitch. I dragged myself back into bed at 3am. As I was about to drift off “Daddy I need you!”. In a semi-zombie-like state I hauled my weary frame out of bed and went to investigate.Jake had woken this morning with a case of Chicken Pox, so the early morning summons was to attend to his itchy ‘goosebumps’, as he calls them, with cotton wool and calamine lotion.

I sat there patiently as Jake reeled off the areas that were itching him.

“Daddy my hand is itchy”
“Daddy my willy is itchy”, Unfortunately a spot had appeared on his willy making him very uncomfortable 🙁
“Daddy my neck is itchy
“Daddy my hand is itchy”

This went on for quite a while and after several applications of said lotion Jake seemed satisfied. By now it was around 3.45am and after collapsing into bed I slipped into a deep slumber.

Then my early morning wake-up call came at 5am when Mia decided she wanted to play :-). Bless her, I went into her room and she gave me the biggest gummiest smile that made everything seem alright.

Something terrible happened this evening. I put Mia on the kitchen table while I washed my hands. Two seconds later she had gone i.e. rolled onto her front and off the table. We all shrieked when we heard her cries and saw that she was no longer on the table. I ran over and found her on the chair flailing around. Luckily this had broken her fall and thankfully she was fine. I was shaking after this incident and now need to be mega careful.
