Back at the hospital, 12 days overdue

Back again to have baby monitored. We arrived at 12pm at had to wait an hour before the whole monitoring farce began. First the sensor would not work properly and kept cutting out, then the paper got jammed in the machine. The sensor that was supposed to be monitoring the uterus simply wasn’t working. The midwife on duty didn’t seem to worry too much and declared after 30 minutes and activity that all was well.
After this Amy took the plunge and decided to have a ‘sweep’. I won’t go into the details of this particular procedure. You can look google it. Suffice it to say that it was rather uncomfortable. Amy was a true soldier and got through it. Afterwards we walked back and had a lovely burger and chips at Masons. We had to wait an hour because the chef got distracted and burnt our burger. The owner gave us free drinks to make amends which was alright by me!

We have decided that Jake will to back with Granny tonight so that Amy can relax and get into the right frame of mind to deliver this baby. On Sunday if she hasn’t arrived we will probably go down the route of getting things going via induction. If we decided not to then we will have to go to the hospital every day for monitoring. Finger and toes crossed for a weekend home birth.
