11 days overdue

We took a trip to the hospital yesterday to have baby monitored. Halfway through said monitoring process Amy actually started to have contractions every 3-5 minutes apart. After the monitoring had finished the midwife came in and looked at Amy’s face. She then said “I can see that your labour has started”.We walked through the snow to Oscar’s and had a celebratory pannini and coffee. Later on Sally and Ken arrived, bringing coal and fiew wood. Meanwhile the contractions continued into the night although at a lesser frequency. Amy had a rough night and woke at 5am. When I took Jake to school she went back to bed for some shut-eye.

It is now 12:45 and I am officially on paternity leave having fired an email to my manager. Amy’s contractions have continues and by my timing they are occurring every 10 minutes.

We have just been for a slushy, mushy walk on Hilly Fields. The snow has now turned to half-frozen mush which is not as nice as walking on the freshly fallen snow that we did yesterday. Amy has noticed that her contractions are now much less of a tightening and more of a period-pain type of feeling. She is feeling a little down about the turn of events. Poor angel :-(.
